Various Illustrations and Drawings
Atlanta and Los Angeles, 1998—2006
By trying to be an illustrator I quickly realized I would rather work with typography and other people’s illustration.

also known as, aka, aka
Cody Hudson asked for drawings of delivery trucks facing right for aka’s premier issue. I am not sure if it a magazine or a book. Either way I screwed up the brief by not drawing delivery trucks and not making them face right so thank photoshop. I like the truck Cody put mine next to.

Fred Reeves and a screenprint, 1999
Fred Reeves loves VWs. The screen print was most likely for a small group show. I really miss Kodak Portra VC and NC film stock.

Some Sneakers, 2001
Wade Thompson and I showed some drawing of shoes for no other reason that do some drawings. I have to admit these look better reproduced than actually mounted.

Boxers, 2005
Drawings done with red and blue Bic ink pens for a group show on Glendale Blvd. near the Red Lion Tavern in Los Angeles. Totally forgot who put the show on or the gallery name. I actually forget even making these drawings.

VW Radio Posters & Print ads, 2001
914 × 1219 mm poster for Volkswagon’s internet radio startup. Full spread ads in Fader, Rolling Stone, Wire — simple, bold and the color scheme says Volkswagen.

Hill and Gully Rider, 2002
Initially these collages were presented to Arkitip as examples of how one could illustrate with a couple different bitmap patterns. They soon found their way into a Sci-Arc graduate project thanks to I. Kandarian. The bikes were rendered in plaids and floral print shelf lining that provided a nice contrast to the subject matter. The technique is perfect for contemporary retail installations.

Sneakers and Drug Wars, 2001
Illustration for David W. era XLR8R for a piece on drug wars and a new book out on the subject. For another article on sneaker fanatics I was asked to illustrate a pair of gravis sneakers.

Atlanta Style Writing, 1989 — 2002
I wrote Estro, Type, Icon, Pete, Goof. I now mostly write Bruno (family name) and Estro (Italian espresso company). My last piece was in 2002 with Reason, Lern, Rem and Kaws in Atlanta. By this point in my not-so-illustrious “career” I would just freestyle these pieces. That year I also moved to Los Angeles and thought a clean break from old habits would be a good thing.
