mesa.font is a unique onscreen display face built from HTML tags and a pixel, mesa is an attempt at new ways of dealing with browser typography. having more in common with metal type than Postscript faces, mesa’s kerning and leading must be set “by hand” in the HTML code. although bulky at first, one is able to extend web typography without the use of expensive software packages and inline graphics. presented here is the first several characters of the beta version. full version will be code-opitimized and include a family of sizes as well as a vertical running face. also being developed is a javascript web based applet to “set” type, specifying size and color and hopefully different fonts. Click on corresponding characters in the list at the bottom of each box. A pop-up window will appear with code in a text area. Copy and paste into your html document. 3. Make sure to include a gif file, call it 'pixel.gif" in the same directory as the your html file.
